Descriere program
Our fall semester runs for 14 weeks from early September to mid-December, with a week’s break halfway through.
We offer a variety liberal arts subjects:
- Britain Today: Issues and Perspectives (core course – mandatory) – taught by Andrew Whitehead
- Shakespeare the Dramatist – taught by Jean Elliott
- The Play’s the Thing (Theatre Course) – taught by Althea Stewart
- London: Biography of a City – taught by Keith Surridge
- Modern Art in London – taught by Carole Machin
- Creative Writing in London – taught by Susie Thomas
- Media in the UK – taught by Christopher Cook (this course will be held in spring 2018, then will move to fall from fall 2018 onwards)
- There is an internship option for this programme – seminars taught by Kalyn Franke
We also aim to offer two US faculty-led courses each fall, such as
Gender, Race and Class in London, with Prof Susan Shaw from Oregon State University
Documenting Life Abroad in London, with Prof Daniel Miller from University of Oregon
Fantastic Beasts and Fashion in London, with Prof Debra Merskin from University of Oregon

- Various guest speakers (well-known actors and writers)
- Variety of visits for class that include: Westminster Abbey, Houses of Parliament, Al Jazeera, Tate Britain and Tate Modern galleries, the Victoria and Albert Museum, St Paul's Cathedral, the British Museum, the Churchill War Rooms, the Tower of London, Mayor of London's Questions at City Hall, Prime Minister's Questions in the House of Commons, Kensington Palace, Hampton Court Palace, National Theatre backstage tour, Charles Dickens Museum
- Out-of-town excursions (e.g. Bath, Oxford, Edinburgh)
- At least 2 theatre trips (for everyone, and at least 4 more if you enrol in The Play’s the Thing and/or Shakespeare)
