The National Football League is an internationally recognized sporting organization, with its headquarters located in New York City, NY. The NFL is the highest level of professional football in the world and holds the current record for highest average attendance per sporting event. 

As an intern for the N.F.L., you are able to get behind-the-scenes of the business, production and processes that make the NFL successful. The N.F.L. is one of the world’s leading sports business, media, and entertainment companies, and is also becoming more renowned on a global scale through the dynamic world of professional football and sport.

Junior Rotational Program 

If you are chosen to join the NFL’s Junior Rotational Program, you will be exposed to an exhilarating yet challenging work environment that equips you with the tools to learn about the ways that you can contribute to the organization’s success through numerous responsibilities. As an intern in the Junior Rotational Program, you are placed in a work rotation like no other, where your work responsibilities shift as you complete the rotations, for each selected time period. The duration of your position in this program can range from 6 to 12 months. The time frame and work load depends on the department in which you are placed in.

Current Junior Rotational Program interns will be given the chance to network and communicate with other participants for future potential jobs in the sporting world and have the opportunity to be placed in mentor assignments. The opportunity for networking is a valuable chance for interns to gather information about new employment openings and gain knowledge on future internships. 

The following departments have been included in the Junior Rotational program:

  • Communication & Public Affairs
  • Events
  • Finance
  • Football Operations & Officiating
  • International
  • Marketing & Sales
  • Media

 

Although the N.F.L. headquarters are located in New York City, NY, participants may have the opportunity to work on short or long term jobs in different offices including the main 

N.F.L. Media office which is based in Culver City, CA, and some may work in the N.F.L. international offices.

Summer Internship Program

The Summer Internship Program gives interns the chance to learn first-hand how to build a successful company. Interns are required to work within the departments given to them, but they are encouraged to explore what the company has to offer on a larger scale. Interns will be able to learn and grow through a series of speaker presentations, mentor sessions, and opportunities to network with other interns, as well as employees of the NFL.

Once selected as an NFL intern, a department will be specifically chosen depending on what the intern is interested in, how academically successful they are, and what positions the company needs to be filled. In the NFL office, the following departments are offered:

  • Communications & Public Affairs
  • Community Affairs
  • Consumer Products
  • Events
  • Finance & Accounting
  • Football Operations
  • Human Resources
  • Information Technology
  • Internal Audit
  • International
  • Labor & Legal
  • Marketing & Sales
  • Media

 

To be considered to the summer internship program, applicants must meet certain requirements. Requirements such as undergraduate juniors with an overall GPA of a minimum of 3.0. To be considered for the Legal department, law students have to be in the top half of their class. If those applying do not meet the above requirements, the application will not be considered for this internship.

NFL Films

NFL Films is a company located in New Jersey, USA. The NFL Films Company was created to produce commercials, television programs, feature films, and documentaries on the National Football League. Members who are submit applications to intern with the NFL Films program will be given a hands-on learning experience while participating as a member of national television and films industries.

There are a limited number of departments available and each applicant will be assigned to his or her department according to their level of interest, the course in which they are studying, their experience in specific fields, as well as the production wants and needs of NFL Films.

In past years, the following departments have been a part of the program:

  • Cinematography
  • Footage and Photo Acquisition
  • Graphics
  • International Broadcast Operations
  • Player Relations
  • Producers
  • Project Management
  • Shooting Stage/Studio

For those who possess a desire to further studies of television and film, mentors who are a part of this award-winning team are willing to guide and assist those to help interns achieve their goals. More specifically, seminars in specific departments, executive Q&A, former intern questions, and a viewing session for those who would like to witness and learn more about the various phases of the operations in film, video, and audio production. Participants will also be given time to fully produce and finish their own project to build skills in their field of work.

NFL Films is offering this opportunity as a paid program and accepts applications for internship for the duration of the football season, as well as the Spring and Summer semesters. This internship is only available to current college students and recent graduates
