Middlebury-Monterey Language Academy

Learn Spanish, French, Chinese, German or Arabic in a supportive, fun environment. So much more than summer camp, the Academy is a unique summer language experience for 8th-12th grade students based on Middlebury College’s famed Language Schools with 100 years of immersion teaching.

The summer language Academy attracts students in grades 8-12 from all over the country and internationally – it’s a place where students become “one” with culture and language using the incomparable Middlebury immersion learning pedagogy, based on Middlebury College’s famed Language Schools.

Students take the Language Pledge® which is a formal commitment to communicate exclusively in the language of study, creating a total language-immersion environment. Activities at the Academy provide a rich framework for meaningful communication to help students realize academic and professional goals.

Academy life has been structured to educate and support the whole learner in a values-based community. This community fosters and supports inclusivity, respect for others, multiculturalism, integrity, personal responsibility and the idea that being resilient when faced with a challenge is an opportunity to grow. The academic and residential staff is fully committed to creating a community that is stimulating, fun and safe for all. It’s a team effort. And we do it all together.
